My Top 25 Brain Breaks

The life of a science major can be overwrought with purely school-based activities if you let it. I found that it was paramount to set aside time to recharge and take a break from the intensity of school-work and class. Below are the most common ways that I would spend my time taking short breaks from studying. I suggest that you make your own list of break activities to fall back on when school gets to be too much, and maybe add a few from my own list!

  1. Go for a run

  2. Do yoga

  3. Learn a new skill on youtube

  4. Paint

  5. Crochet

  6. Knit

  7. Macrame

  8. Make a new Spotify playlist, and then possibly dance to it :)

  9. Make a dessert 

  10. Go to target

  11. Call a friend or family member

  12. Go for a nature walk

  13. Read a couple chapters of a just-for-fun book

  14. Go out for coffee

  15. Hop in a jacuzzi (when it is COVID safe)

  16. Attend a group fitness class

  17. Go to a trivia night

  18. Watch a throwback movie

  19. Write and send a card to someone you love

  20. Take a bath

  21. Clean/organize

  22. Garden

  23. Look through old pictures

  24. Walk a loop around your neighborhood or campus

  25. Find a new recipe to try out
